Aquarium

An aquarium is a container made of glass with water, where exotic fish are kept to be observed. (See respective keywords.) The fish are trapped in a simulation of a real environment. Thus, the aquarium can symbolize a kind of artificially created reflection of a natural environment, or on the other hand, an attempt at conscious reflection of the unconscious. Perhaps it expresses the dreamer's desire to place the contents of the unconscious into manageable compartments? Or is the unconscious compensating for the self's fear of its vastness?
