Eleven

Since ten signifies the completion of a cycle, eleven may symbolize the beginning of a new one. According to Sigurd Agrell, the number eleven was associated with fertility in Norse mythology (1990, p. 74ff), a view shared by African esoteric traditions – and the beginning of a new cycle can indeed be an expression of fertility.

A number that follows a whole or complete number can sometimes carry negative qualities (as with thirteen); in the case of eleven, it is associated with excess, hedonism, sin, and so forth – that which disrupts or even destroys the whole and the good. In other words, the number has a trickster quality.
