Honey

Honey is produced in an intelligent, collective manner by bees; a natural product crafted by nature. Yet, it also requires a degree of human craftsmanship to utilize it, symbolizing a collaboration or synthesis between the processes of the unconscious and the conscious.

Characteristic of honey is its sweetness, something that tends to carry a positive value. It may allude to the “sweetness of victory” in the sense of achieving a goal. Honey is thought to possess healing properties, recognized not only by ancient alchemists but also beyond. The alchemists referred to honey as the “sweetness of the earth” (which could also turn into poison). For them, honey was not only purifying but also a “coagulating” agent, representing the transformation of spirit into body.

Furthermore, honey was used for preservation, thereby acquiring associations with immortality. There is also an undertone of rebirth in honey, as bees are born in cells, consume honey to grow, and then emerge as part of a collective whole.
