Square
Although the square is a symbol of wholeness, its different parts still strive apart from each other; they stand in opposition to each other. This is not the case with the otherwise similar symbol of the circle. (See also Four.) The square is associated with the earthly and the feminine, while the circle is seen as more heavenly and masculine, or spiritual.
The square represents order on earth – its four elements, cardinal directions, seasons; but it is also humanity's preferred architectural expression. (The circle is a more otherworldly perfection.) While the completely round shape and circular motion occur in the heavens, in nature, the square is human-made.
When the square, or an equivalent image, appears in dreams, it may refer to the dreamer's all-encompassing awareness, a possible realization of the dreamer's inner wholeness; that which the inner life strives toward. As a dream symbol, the square can refer to the "God within."
