Pearl

In alchemy, the pearl is sometimes an image of the philosopher’s stone. It is the temporary and perishable mussel that creates the eternal and imperishable pearl within itself, a phenomenon that attracts the projection that humans, too, have something eternal and indestructible within them. And just as the pearl emerges when the mussel dies, it is thought that the soul is liberated when the body dies.

More generally, the perfect pearl represents “the treasure that is difficult to attain,” the highest value of the personality, so to speak.

Its white surface and round shape link it to the symbolism of both the color and the form. The pearl has a distinctly feminine quality—it is silvery, round, and moist, much like the moon.
