Rug

In many cultures, the rug is one's personal space, the place where one resides, lives, and in this way, one's center of the world. Nomads, of course, take their rug with them when they move, and wherever they lay it out, it becomes their home, their center of the world. In this way, the nomad always has the possibility of being on their own land, carrying their own place with them wherever they go. According to von Franz, the rug holds this symbolic meaning in the dreams of many contemporary people as well. (The Interpretation of Fairy Tales, p. 68.)
