Toys and other objects intended for children (cf.) can allude to one’s own childhood, as well as, of course, to play (cf.); or they may symbolize something childish or something one has or ought to outgrow. This symbolism is especially pronounced with teddy bears or stuffed animals, which are also associated with security and comfort.
