Tower
The tower is a human-made structure that reaches towards the sky; it radiates power, ambition, and spirituality, evoking associations with sorcerers. From the height of the tower, one gains perspective, sees the bigger picture, attains insight, and so on—but there is also the risk of inflation, of losing touch with reality. (See Height.)
The tower is also associated with isolation. The sorcerer sits in his tower to be alone with his studies; we speak of the "ivory tower" to describe a situation detached from reality. This association is also found in fairy tales, where prisoners are placed in towers, princesses are locked away in towers to prevent them from meeting a future husband, or Rapunzel, who is trapped in a tower with no doors, and so on.
