Violence

If one practices violence on someone or something in a dream, it is often a reflection of what one is doing to a part of oneself. For example, one may be abusing a desire, a dream one has had, or a side of oneself that has been rejected by the environment and that one has also forsaken in order to be accepted. In essence, one is committing violence upon oneself. – Resorting to violence is often a symbol of a morally deficient state.

It is impossible to separate the dreamer's personal psychology from the content of the dream. A person who is out of touch with his own aggression might dream of violence as an attempt by the unconscious to establish contact between the evasive ego and this occasionally justified attitude. If the dreamer is excessively meek, the shadow may become excessively aggressive, resulting in unexpectedly violent dreams as the self-regulating psyche strives for balance.

Generally, repeated violence in dreams may also reflect an inner rebellion or emotionally charged conflicts.
